Rangers have officially entered one of the most significant chapters in our club’s long and storied history.

In a stunning announcement made on the club’s official website, it has been confirmed that 49ers Enterprises have completed their takeover of Rangers Football Club, ushering in a new era with bold ambition, serious investment, and a fresh footballing vision for the future.

🧑‍💼 New Leadership Installed

At the top of the new-look boardroom, Andrew Cavenagh has been appointed as Chairman, while Paraag Marathe, the 49ers Enterprises President, steps into the role of Vice Chairman. Both bring serious sporting clout and business pedigree – Marathe, in particular, has been instrumental in transforming the San Francisco 49ers and Leeds United in recent years.

💸 Initial £20m Cash Injection for Transfers

The new owners have wasted no time backing their words with action. An initial £20 million capital injection will be made available immediately for squad investment, on top of the funds Rangers already had planned for this window. For a club targeting domestic dominance and a meaningful run in Europe, this is a massive boost – and exactly the kind of decisive move fans have been crying out for.

The key word in the statement is ‘initial’, fans may feel it’s not enough, but that one word indicates more investment will be made available as the club requires it to reach its goals. What this does with immediate effect is being stability to the club.

🔁 Board Changes Underway

The new era will also bring change in the boardroom. Several members of the previous board will now step aside as the new owners reshape the club’s leadership with fresh voices and expertise. The departing directors have been thanked for their efforts during a transitional period, but make no mistake – this is a clean break and a decisive step forward.

Mark Taber, Andrew Clayton and Gene Schneur will join Cavenagh and Marathe as new members of the Board. Patrick Stewart, Fraser Thornton, John Halsted, and George Taylor will remain on the Board.

Graeme Park, Julian Wolhardt, and Alastair Johnston are stepping down from the Board.

🎯 Next Step: New Head Coach

All eyes now turn to the managerial appointment, which the new board say is already well underway. Kevin Thelwell, Rangers’ new Director of Football, and CEO Patrick Stewart are leading the process, and fans can expect news on a new head coach soon. Davide Ancelotti remains a strong candidate, but this fresh leadership team will have their own ideas and expectations.

💬 A Word From the New Regime

In their open letter to Rangers fans, Cavenagh and Marathe promised to honour the traditions of the club, while driving us forward with strategic, disciplined investment and a commitment to long-term success.

Our goal is to win trophies in Scotland and be able to compete at a high level in Europe, while laying a foundation of financial sustainability for the future.

They’ve walked the walk at NFL and Premier League level. Now they’re at Ibrox – and the message is clear: we’re building something serious.
