Rangers Women let a golden opportunity slip through their fingers in Edinburgh on Sunday, falling 2-0 to Hibernian in a result that could prove pivotal in the title race.

With results elsewhere going their way, Jo Potterโ€™s side knew a win would send them four points clear at the top of the table. But instead of capitalising, the Gers were punished by a disciplined Hibs side who executed their game plan to perfection โ€” soak up pressure and hit on the break.

Despite enjoying long spells of possession, Rangers never looked fully comfortable. From the early moments, they were vulnerable to quick counters, and it didnโ€™t take long for the hosts to expose that. Just ten minutes in, Eilidh Adams got free down the right and teed up Kathleen McGovern for a well-placed header to open the scoring.

The Light Blues tried to respond, but a lack of cutting edge in the final third meant they struggled to carve out clear opportunities. Hibs doubled their lead before half-time with Stacy Papadopoulos finding the net from distance after a loose passage of play โ€” a blow that left Rangers with a mountain to climb.

Changes at the break โ€” including a milestone 150th appearance for Lizzie Arnot โ€” brought some renewed energy, but not enough to truly trouble the resolute Hibs defence. Chelsea Cornet and Camille Lafaix came closest to getting the Gers back in it, but chances were limited and the hosts remained a danger on the counter, nearly adding a third through Adams, who rattled the post.

Itโ€™s a tough result to take, especially with so much at stake, but the title race is far from over. There are still five massive games left to play, starting with a crucial showdown against Glasgow City at Broadwood. Itโ€™s time for the squad to regroup, dust themselves off, and come out fighting.

Thereโ€™s still everything to play for.
