It’s another massive test for Barry Ferguson’s side as in-form Hibernian roll into Ibrox this weekend. Unbeaten in the league since December and sitting third in the table, Hibs won’t be short on confidence. But Rangers fans will be hoping our side can maintain the attacking spark we’ve seen in recent games—especially with a Europa League quarter-final looming on the horizon.
🎙️ McCann Takes the Mic
In a change of pace, Neil McCann stepped up for the pre-match press conference, and as always, the former winger spoke with passion and clarity. He reflected on how much he’s enjoying being back at the club and gave credit to Barry Ferguson for silencing some of the doubters since stepping in as interim boss. With results improving and the football becoming more exciting, McCann believes the coaching team is making a real case to be kept on beyond the season.
🩹 Injury Watch
Unfortunately, there are a few knocks that could affect the line-up:
- Václav Černý is still recovering from a strain picked up on international duty. We’d be surprised (and maybe a little annoyed) if he was risked ahead of the Athletic Club clash.
- Bailey Rice is also struggling after picking up a knock against Dundee. The youngster battled through the closing minutes after we’d used all our subs—tough shift.
Rangers Stun Dundee in Late Comeback – But Serious Questions Remain
🔄 Rotation Incoming?
With a huge Europa League first leg against Athletic Club coming up midweek, we’re expecting Ferguson to rotate a few names—but not all. John Souttar and Mohamed Diomande are suspended for that clash, so it makes total sense to give them the nod against Hibs to keep others fresh. That likely means Leon Balogun is wrapped in cotton wool until Thursday night.
The other big call? Start Hamza Igamane through the middle, where he looks most dangerous, and play Danilo just behind in that floating false 10 role. That partnership worked well earlier in the season, and with Černý likely to be unavailable, it’s the right time to go back to it.
🔁 Tactical Setup
Ferguson has been sticking with a back-three system, with wingbacks providing width and a bit more defensive cover. We’ve still been conceding more than we’d like—12 goals in 6 games under Barry—but most of them have come from individual errors, not tactical flaws. And let’s be honest, the football has been far more exciting to watch since he took charge.

Rebuilding the SPFL: Why Fans Deserve More Than a 10-Team Premiership
🟢 Know Your Opponent: Hibs on Fire
Hibernian are the form team in Scotland right now—15 games unbeaten in the league since before Christmas. They’ve climbed from the bottom half to third and boast the best set-piece conversion rate in the Premiership. That’s a serious warning to our defenders—concentration will be key, especially at corners and free-kicks.
🧠 Final Thoughts
This one’s going to be a battle. Hibs won’t sit back—they’ve got belief, momentum, and a dangerous set-piece threat. But at Ibrox, with a buzzing crowd and players like Diomande, Raskin, and Igamane all hitting stride, Rangers should have enough to get over the line.
Let’s get the job done, stay injury-free, and head into Europe on a high!
